Hello! My name is Shauna Sammon, hailing from Westport, County Mayo. I’m 28 years old and I am honoured to be representing the Irish community in the vibrant city of London at this year’s International Rose of Tralee Festival. I’ve been living in London for nearly six years and work as a primary school teacher at St Andrew’s Catholic Primary School, having qualified from St Mary’s University in Twickenham. Teaching in London has given me the opportunity to connect with diverse communities and discover a rich variety of cultures from around the world, whilst also taking pride in sharing my own heritage. Teaching has always been a true passion of mine, driven by a deep care for children and a desire to help them reach their potential. As the Wellbeing Lead at my school, I am dedicated to supporting children in all aspects of their daily lives, ensuring they feel valued, understood and empowered. One of my many passions in life is Gaelic Football, having played from a young age with Westport. My current club, Round Towers London, has become a home away from home; it's a close-knit community where I’ve built lifelong friendships. On the pitch, we’ve achieved notable success: winning multiple county titles, reaching two All-Britain finals (winning one for the first time in the club’s history) and making it to the All-Ireland quarter-final in 2022. Singing has been my passion from a young age. I come from a very musical family. Music is something I find great comfort in and have turned to in times of need. I find a great sense of pride in performing and taking part in events. I have entered various singing competitions over the years and have sung at weddings, funerals and celebrations.
